Kathleen Petyarre

Born circa 1940 at Atnangker (275 kilometres north East of Alice Springs), Kathleen is
recognised as one of Australia’s great living artists. She was the recipient of the 13th Telstra
NATSIA Award in 1996 and is the subject of a book of essays called ‘Genius of Place’. She
speaks Anmatyerre with English as her second language and divides her time between a
home in Adelaide and her community of Mosquito Bore in the Utopia Homelands.
