Lindsay Bird's aboriginal name is Artola Art Nanaka Yunga Areteca, he is an elder of the
Anmatyerre language group who took his name from the station he was born on (Jim Bird).
He was involved in the early batik work of Utopia, and was instrumental in making acrylic
paint more important in Utopia. He was one of the first Aboriginal artists to have a solo
exhibition 1989 Sydney. He continues to travel nationally and internationally with exhibitions.
Group exhibitions include: The 5th and 8th National Aboriginal Art Award Exhibition 1988 and
1991, Contemporary Aboriginal Art from the Robert Holmes a Court Collection on tour
through the USA 1990, Aboriginal Art and Spirituality, High court, Canberra 1991, Tjukurrpa.
Desert Dreamings -Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth 1993, Araluen Centre for the Arts,
Alice Springs 1994, Fine Arts from the Gantner Myer Collection in the Fine Arts Museum of
San Francisco 1999.

CAAMA, Gantner Myer-Sammlung, Museum of Victoria, National Gallery of Australia,
