THE GALLERY

Red Sand Art Gallery commenced business in the tiny township of  TiTree (190 kilometres north of Alice Springs) in 1997. A second gallery opened in the Alice in 2002,based in Todd Mall, it housed one and a half floors of contemporary Aboriginal art and artifacts from the Utopia homelands and the Central Desert.

In 2009 Red Sand moved to Brisbane and opened a new and exciting gallery in the bohemian suburb of Paddington, just 2km from the City. Paddo, as it's affectionately called by the locals is well known for its colourfully renovated Queenslander homes,  its stunning city views, trendy bars, cosy restaurants, chic boutiques and galleries.

The gallery work directly with the artist of the Anmatyerre and Alyawarre language groups who are well known for their respresentation of 'Awelye' - Body paint, and fine dot work depicting the country and Dreamings of these people. These styles present contemporary pieces which demand attention of art critics nationally and internationally, and which boast a place amidst many private collections, Government spaces, Galleries and Museums. Well Known Utopia artist that we represent include: Ada Bird, Nancy Petyarre, Gloria Petyarre, Kathleen Petyarre, Violet Petyarre, Minnie Pwerle, Cowboy Louis, Evelyin Pultara, Anna Petyarre, Gracie Morton, Lindsay Bird, Greeny Purvis and many more.
